How does ThinkShield Data Defense work?

ThinkShield Data Defense is an endpoint cybersecurity solution that monitors interactions to the system’s drive (SSD). Per policy, Data Defense enforces step-up authentication (MFA) for access to protected drive data including files, folders, and even drive partitions (Secure Vaults). The step-up authentication prevents data from being accessed by ransomware, bad actors, and other advanced threats.

How does this work with my EDR solution?

ThinkShield Data Defense integrates with popular EDR solutions such as SentinelOne, Carbon Black, Microsoft, and others. When these solutions detect a threat, it can automatically trigger a “Shields Up” response event in Data Defense to ensure that sensitive data is instantly locked and protected from threats.

How is ThinkShield Data Defense managed?

ThinkShield DataDefense is managed with a cloud-based or on-premises. From within the management console, administrators can manage policy for endpoint clients as well as configure API-based integrations with enterprise solutions such as EDRs, SIEMs, and Azure AD.

Can ThinkShield Data Defense integrate with my existing security stack?

Yes, ThinkShield Data Defense management is API-enabled and can seamlessly integrate with popular SIEM/SOAR, EDR, AV, and other security solutions.

Are ThinkShield Data Defense security policies configurable?

Yes, ThinkShield Data Defense administrators can configure security policies align with organizational risk management practices. For example, step-up authentication can always be enforced or can be more relaxed for improved user experience. For example, MFA can be enforced based on timed sessions or number of files accessed (e.g. every 10th file accessed).

Which MFA solutions does ThinkShield Data Defense support?

ThinkShield Data Defense supports a wide variety of MFA options. These include PIN, Authenticator Apps (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator), Duo Security by Cisco, Windows Hello (facial recognition and fingerprint-based authentication), Personal Identity Verification (PIV) such as YubiKey, and Common Access Cards (CAC).
