Gaming laptops powered by AMD

Gamers put big demands on their laptops. Today's most entertaining and immersive games require a very powerful processor to deliver high frame rates and smooth, reliable performance. So it's important to choose the right laptop – like an advanced Lenovo Legion model — and the right mobile processor. And for gamers, it's hard to beat AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series CPUs.

AMD Ryzen™ 5000 H-Series Processors deliver great mobile gaming in laptops that are thinner, quieter, and cooler than most earlier gaming models. They can run at higher frequencies across the stack than previous AMD CPUs, and offer more cache memory, too. And the AMD "Zen 3" architecture is highly energy-efficient, so you get amazing battery life you might not expect in a gaming system.

AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Processors for gaming laptops

There are three levels of AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series Mobile Processors for gaming laptops – each with a different thermal design profile (TDP) that indicates how much power it can utilize to deliver the game performance you demand. A higher TDP number generally means better gaming performance, but the processor will use more battery power.

Table 1 shows a selection of AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Processors for gaming laptops as of late 2021 (these offerings may change over time). A two-letter suffix differentiates the models with low, medium, and high TDPs:

  • HX (45-watt+ TDP) – These represent the highest-performance AMD laptop processors you can get. AMD Ryzen™ HX-Series Processors deliver elite-level, immersive gaming performance for serious gamers, and are unlocked for overclocking beyond 45 watts when enabled in select systems.2
  • H (45-watt TDP) – AMD Ryzen™ H-Series Processors deliver a superior, high-end portable gaming experience. These CPUs are a great choice for gamers who need uncompromising performance and portability.
  • HS (35-watt TDP) – These models are designed to deliver the ultimate in portable gaming. AMD Ryzen HS-Series Processors deliver ultimate gaming performance in lighter, slimmer, more compact gaming laptops with long battery life.

It's easy to see why AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Mobile Processors are the CPUs of choice for serious gamers using today's high-end graphics – especially if you like your gaming rigs to be thin, light, and long-lasting.

Thin and light laptops powered by AMD

Thin, lightweight laptops and convertible 2-in-1s are highly popular. They're ideal for home, school, or the office — wherever you need mobile PC performance and long battery life. And AMD Ryzen™ 5000 U-Series Processors power some of Lenovo's thinnest and lightest laptops, including Lenovo ThinkPad, IdeaPad, ThinkBook and Yoga models.

AMD Ryzen 5000 U-Series processors bring game-changing technology to thin and light laptops. Models built on the company's latest, 7nm "Zen 3" architecture deliver cool, quiet performance and incredible battery life. They're the only family of processors for ultrathin laptops with up to 8 cores and 16 processing threads4 to complete tasks quickly, and the AMD Ryzen 7 5800U CPU boasts up to 57% higher multi-thread performance than the competition.5

AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Processors for thin and light laptops

You can identify AMD Ryzen™ 5000 U-Series Processors for thin and light laptops by the "U" suffix at the end of the processor number, as in 5800U or 5300U. Several technology features built into AMD Ryzen 5000 U-Series processors make them perfect to power today's do-it-all, take-anywhere, thin and light laptops:

  • Faster clock speeds: AMD Ryzen 5000 U-Series processors built on the "Zen 3" architecture are designed to run at higher frequencies — for more raw speed – than the previous AMD Ryzen processor generation.

  • AMD Radeon™ Graphics:All AMD Ryzen 5000 U-Series processors come with integrated AMD Radeon Graphics that deliver crisp, vibrant visuals for gaming, streaming and more.

  • Simultaneous multi-threading: AMD Ryzen 5000 U-Series processors can simultaneously process multiple threads of instructions on each CPU core, boosting performance so that your demanding tasks can be completed in less time.

Table 2 shows AMD Ryzen 5000 U-Series processors for thin and light laptops as of late 2021 (these offerings may change over time). Note that all of these CPUs have a power-sipping 15-watt TDPs.
