What Specs Are Important For Video Editing?
Hey everybody, so my daughter was using one of my older Lenovo Thinkpad to edit her videos and images for her YouTube and TikTok, but the battery started overheating and having issues (it now sounds like itโs bound to explode). Now I want to get a new laptop for her so what specs are important in a laptop for frequent Adobe applications use? Photoshop, Illustrator, and Aftereffects

You definitely need a decent gaming rig and some good advice already provided here. Its probably worth emphasizing that GPU and CPU help to speed up exporting / transcoding.
I always remember when I first started to do some video exporting in high resolutions, some exports would take almost 2 days as the hardware wasn't up to it!!!!
I would think any good gaming rig would probably serve well in a video editing role.

Laptop buying Advice
I will study Game Development and will need a high performance gaming laptop for 1500-2000$. I'm currently eying the Legion 5i 15 gen 10 for its 16GB, 1TB, RTX5060 and OLED screen. I generally love Lenovo for its great build quality and good consistency, tho it isn't a requirement for me.
Any better alternatives I should know of?
Wait for a sale. There are many of them doing the year and there could also be a good special offer.
If your are really active in here you can also earn points you can put towards the PC or Laptop you want.
I love my Legion laptop, I would definitely recommend getting one. Like Christian said, you may be able to catch a sale depending on how soon you are looking to buy one.

College laptop advice
I am enrolled into Masters in industrial and operations engineering, and will be needing a new laptop that can handle complex optmization code and large software.
For this i was attracted by the lenovo legion, but im not sure if its worth it for my purpose, i am not a hardware specialist but i think the gaming part is maybe the expensive part. Do you guys have any reccomendations for a powerful laptop meant for work, not games? And what are the main reasons?

It sounds like you need a powerful CPU rather than a GPU. So, if gaming isn't a concern, you might want to consider something from the Lenovo ThinkPad line.
Youโll need either a creator laptop with a powerful processor/CPU or a Legion gaming laptop with a stronger CPU focus. If youโre not planning on doing heavy rendering, just go for a creator laptop with a 16-core processor and 32GB of RAM.
Adobe Illustrator File sizes
Just learned a new trick. For files that use linked images, unchecking "Create PDF compatible file" when saving, can DRASTICALLY reduce your file size.
This is because your images get embedded in the file when saving PDF compatible Illustrator files.
Unchecking the option makes your files more like an InDesign file, where it retains the links but does not embed them.

Whats your preferred brand of TV or monitors and why i tend to stick with Samsung for my most of my entrainment products I like the picture quality and refresh rate I think they make good all around products

Samsungs are pretty good at all TV price points. I generally go for processor speed on TV's, those tend to perform better over time than the rest.
Monitors I find are all pretty good as long as the specs align with your needs. If I had to pick a brand for the best overall value for what I do on my pc (work, game, movies, all of the above) then Asus is probably my favorite.

How do you use AI without losing your own creative style?
Iโve been thinking about how AI can help with creative work without making everything feel too generic.
For me, the best use is brainstorming, organizing ideas, or getting past the blank page. But I still think the final direction, tone, and personal taste should come from the creator.

That's a great question. Part of it is typically brainstorming and having a general direction you're heading in. I personally use AI to solve or provide direction on specific technical issues that would be time consuming or I would struggle performing myself.
Reward point donation.
I'm not sure how many other members would want to do this but I know I probably won't spend my reward points before they expire (in the next 6 months) So thought it might be nice to have an option to donate them to a good cause of Lenovo's choice. Not sure if it's plausible or something Lenovo would even want to do , just a suggestion ๐
Its a good idea but you can always do what I do and get like a wireless mouse or a xbox controller or headset and give that to someone you know if you dont need one

I am super excited for Ghost in the Shell, I am hoping it is as amazing as it can be! Tomb Raider King also looks interesting so I will probably check that out too!!

Mushoku Tensei S3 โ already a great couple seasons. Will see how the story keeps unfolding from a new perspective.

I always wanted a lab to synthesize a chemical family I believe to exist but currently does not.
There are some complicated electronics projects I'd like to get into, but there's no chance of them making a return on the investment and so I have to focus on more lucrative opportunities.
I never really force inspiration. I write things as they come to me and I just let them come to me. And sometimes that's just outlining. Suffice it to say, I have many projects at the same time all the time.
What do you do when you have a problem?
When you're creating and run into a problem , do you try to come up with a solution on your own or do you look online right away ?

I usually just use Reddit to either find the answer or ask questions on the forums. Usually someone else has encountered the same issue in the past and they will pass their knowledge to me.
Do a normal search first and look through most of the top search results. If I can't think of any more better search terms/language, I go to reddit for the problem. If that doesn't work or if the problem is too hyper specific, I tend to use Claude to find answer to the problem. However, it also depends on the problem and situation, context is important after all. and some situations aren't appropriate to use AI in.
