Our Objectives
The aims of Lenovo's Supplier Diversity Program are to expand our diverse supplier base, strengthen economic development, and create a competitive advantage for all involved. Diverse suppliers are a natural part of our business strategy and these suppliers are an integral part of our productivity, quality, service, and innovation. We are committed to maximizing the inclusion of Minority-, Women-, Veteran-, Service Disabled Veteran-, Disabled-, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT)- owned businesses, as well as businesses located in Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZones) and Small Businesses. We will accomplish this by:
- Promoting the sourcing of goods and services from high-performing diverse businesses.
- Embedding Supplier Diversity within our corporate culture.
- Ensuring compliance with all aspects of Supplier Diversity spend requirements.
- Integrating Supplier Diversity in the strategic procurement plans.
- Focusing on efficiencies and continuous improvement.
- Enhancing the economic vibrancy of the communities we serve.
- Maintaining relationships with local, regional, and national Diversity organizations (e.x. NMSDC, WBENC).
- Facilitating the training on the philosophy, policies, and methodologies of Supplier Diversity.
Program Diversity Qualifications
To qualify as a:
Small business the company must qualify as a small business as defined within the NAICS size standards established by the Small Business Administration. Click here for details.
Woman-Owned business, the business must be at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by a woman or group of women. A woman owner or female designate must also hold the highest office within the company on a day-to-day basis. The woman managing the day-to-day operations must possess industry expertise.
Minority-Owned business, the company must be at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by one or more U.S. citizens from any of the following ethnic groups: Asian American, Black or African American, Hispanic American or Native American.
Veteran-Owned business, as defined in section 3(q) of the US Small Business Act (15 U.S.C. 632(q)) and by the Small Business Administration (SBA), the small business must be: (i) at least 51% unconditionally owned by one or more veterans (as defined at 38 U.S.C. 101(2)); or in the case of any publicly owned business, at least 51% of the stock of which is unconditionally owned by one or more veterans; and (ii) whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more veterans.
Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned business, as defined in section 3(q) of the US Small Business Act (15 U.S.C. 632(q)) and the Small Business Administration’s (SBA’s) implementing SDVOSBC Program Regulations (13 C.F.R. 125), the small business must be at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more disabled veterans, the home office must be located in the United States and the home office cannot be a branch or subsidiary of a foreign corporation, foreign firm or other foreign-based business. A disabled veteran is a veteran of the U.S. Military, Naval or Air service.
HUBZone business, as defined by the US Small Business Administration, the small business must be controlled by a U.S. citizen with a principal office located in a HUBZone. 35% of its employees must also reside in a HUBZone. Click here for details.
Small Disadvantaged-Owned business, the company must be at least 51% owned, operated, managed, and controlled by individuals with a disability or service-disabled veterans who are either U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. Click here for details.
Person with Disability-Owned business, company must be at least 51% owned, operated, managed, and controlled by individuals with a disability or service-disabled veterans who are either U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and/or Transgender (LGBT)-owned business, the company must be a U.S.-based business concern which is at least 51% owned, operated, managed and controlled by an LGBT person or persons. The principal place of business (headquarters) must be in the United States.
