Battery Information
Many Lenovo products and accessories contain lithium ion and lithium metal batteries, which are classified as hazardous by various global transportation agencies. These include the U.S. Department of Transportation, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), International Air Transport Association (IATA), and International Maritime Organization (IMO). As such, lithium batteries are subject to numerous transportation regulations.
Reese’s Law Compliance
Reese’s Law updated US federal safety requirements for button cell or coin batteries. Lenovo is in compliance to Reese’s Law, for consumer products with coin batteries being sold in the US. General Certificates of Compliance (GCC) and/or Children’s Product Certificates (CPC) can be provided upon request. Please reach out to compliance@lenovo.com for assistance. Please include the product marketing name and machine type (MT) or part number in your inquiry.
Lenovo Battery Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
The Lenovo Battery Declaration of Conformity (DoC) is a document that affirms Lenovo’s conformance to U.S. and worldwide transportation requirements. It lists the applicable preconditions, testing, and regulations assessed for compliance.

Lenovo Battery Safety Data Sheets and UN38.3 Test Summaries
When shipping Lenovo or Motorola products overseas that contain a rechargeable battery, you may need to provide a Safety Data Sheet (formerly MSDS) or UN38.3 Test Summary. These confirm that the battery meets stringent international safety criteria.
To locate these documents, you will need to know the battery’s part number (or ASM number) for your machine and then visit the Lenovo Battery SDS Information page.
