The website, connectplus.utah.gov, is an offshoot of the state's official web portal. Introduced in 2009, Connect Plus is intended to keep Utah citizens abreast of news from around the state while allowing visitors to connect to government officials through social channels. By revamping the site specifically for tablets, the Utah government acknowledges that the burgeoning technology appears to be here to stay. The site, which now features a new layout and navigation capabilities, is designed to make it easier for Utah citizens to stay connected with government offices even while away from their home computers. "Our newly enhanced Connect Plus portal expands the depth of information that citizens can access on their tablet devices," said Utah chief information officer Stephen Fletcher. "We are excited to offer Connect Plus for a more modern way of viewing Utah government news." In light of the recent rise of tablets and smartphones, more businesses are now creating websites that cater to advanced mobile technology. As one expert explains in a recent Everything PR report, building a mobile web presence is no longer a luxury for a company, but a necessity. |
