Students at all levels can use the devices to expand the learning experience by playing educational games, taking notes and conducting research, among other activities. However, students aren't the only ones in the classroom who can find the technology advantageous. Teachers too can benefit by working tablets into their lesson plans. There are a number of reasons the tablet can be an effective teaching tool, but perhaps the most apparent is its portability. Rather than lugging around a laptop or being tethered to a desktop, a teacher can use a lightweight tablet and can still be free to walk around the classroom. This, as a result, can create a learning environment where students are more attentive and engaged in the lessons at hand. Teachers can also make use of tablets' applications to improve their lessons. Used in conjunction with other technology, such as an interactive whiteboard or textbook software, the tablet can serve as a complementary tool to traditional teaching methods. Most educators would agree that technology is not a substitute for good teaching practices and a solid curriculum. However, by using technological devices, a good teacher can make the educational experience even more effective. |
