Tablets, cloud and the two-way demand

Two of the biggest technologies affecting the enterprise sector right now are tablet computers and cloud computing. The latter is widely regarded as a solution to reduce operational cost without experiencing a drop in productivity. The former, meanwhile, has expanded businesses' mobility efforts, providing a greater level of flexibility in the workplace.

As both the technologies continue to evolve, it is becoming apparent that they seem destined for one another in the enterprise space.

Through the cloud, businesses can provide employees access to corporate information from virtually anywhere with an internet connection. Naturally, this is appealing to tablet owners, who can take advantage of both technologies to work on the road, at the airport or at home.

Further strengthening the bond between tablets and the cloud is hard drive space. Tablets -- as well as many newer laptop computers -- forgo extensive disk space to enable them to run more quickly. This has all but necessitated a trend toward the cloud. Tablet users can access their documents, spreadsheets, presentations and other work-related files in the cloud without having to take up space on their hard drives.

Both technologies are poised for huge growth in the enterprise space in the coming years. How the two will continue to complement one another will be an interesting development.
