Tablet uses for healthcare professionals

A growing number of hospitals and private practice physicians are turning to tablet computers to improve efficiency and quality of patient care.

Having a mobile device capable of accessing patient information on the go is a huge advantage for physicians. Instead of spending time gathering records, lab results and medical histories from different departments, everything doctors need will already be in the palms of their hands. They will be free to spend more time with patients and less time on administrative duties.

The ample screen size and impressive resolution makes tablets great tools for displaying and reviewing X-rays and MRIs quickly. It also allows for better collaboration between colleagues and gives doctors the ability to inform patients in an engaging way.

Medical journals and other valuable resources can be called upon at a moment's notice by storing them on a tablet or accessing them online. Doctors are also supported by a rapidly expanding market of mobile applications. Physicians can already use tablet apps to accurately fill prescriptions, add notes to medical records and monitor heart rates.

The forecast for the medical tablet market is expected to remain strong as more hospitals continue to transform the way they use technology to align with regulations in the HITECH Act of 2009.
